This is a fully differentiated lesson helping learners to improve and develop their reading and writing skills. The lesson is ideal for learners studying any level of the functional skills qualification or KS3-KS4 English. The first part of the lesson focuses on the effective use of adjectives to help express our views in an appropriate manner. The lesson then moves on with a sample reading assessment with answers provided on the PowerPoint. The lesson uses the theme of Christmas to explore different forms of writing. The lesson helps learners understand the importance of structure in creative writing and how to use this in their writing. The lesson uses a matching up activity and a model response to help learners understand how important structure is. Additionally, the lesson helps to consolidate their understanding of advanced punctuation.
